Bangor Region Leadership Institute Announces Volunteer of the Year Award Recipient

Bangor Region Leadership Institute (BRLI) is proud to announce that the 2016 Gary J. Creaser Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented to Christina Caron, BRLI Class of 2012. The Bangor Region Leadership Institute (BRLI) was created by local community leaders to provide a program that nurtures future leaders who will impact the economic, social, and cultural environment of the region.

Many Institute alumni have given selflessly of themselves and demonstrated exceptional leadership to shape the Bangor region and the vitality of the BRLI program. To recognize the contributions of outstanding alumni, the Gary J. Creaser Volunteer of the Year Award is announced and presented each year at the BRLI Alumni Breakfast.

“The BRLI program and its alumni are grateful beneficiaries of Christina’s commitment to excellence and passion for making a difference,” said Kirsten Ismail, BRLI Steering Committee Chair. “We are thrilled to offer her the recognition she deserves through the Gary Creaser Award.”

Christina is a development professional with more than ten years of marketing and fundraising experience, including developing multi-faceted fundraising programs and managing fundraising software implementations. In September 2016, Christina returned to Husson University to serve as Executive Director of Development. She is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, a co-founder of Social Media Breakfast Bangor, and BRLI Class of 2012.

She currently serves on the BRLI Steering Committee as the Vice-Chair. She is a local Girl Scout Troop Leader. Christina Caron lives in Bangor with her husband and two children.

Gary Creaser, a 1999 graduate, held a long-time affiliation with BRLI and continued that relationship for more than a decade. He was an exemplary volunteer, giving hundreds of hours to the enhancement of the programs of BRLI. Involved with several activities that impacted the program, Gary’s contribution showed the true meaning of what the perfect volunteer should be and do.

From his leadership role as Board Chair to behind-the-scenes contributions to planning events, his affiliation with BRLI was longstanding. Christina will be presented with the Creaser Award at the BRLI Annual Alumni Breakfast on Friday, October 7th, at Hollywood Casino. The annual breakfast is the kick-off for the program year.
