Janelle Wuoristo

A Maine native, Janelle has lived in Bangor for nearly 30 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else, her roots really love the soil here. Janelle has spent her career working in the non-profit sector and is currently a Program Manager at Penquis. Her areas of expertise include program development and management for community based and collective impact initiatives; organizational capacity building; grant writing and grant management; volunteer management and recruitment; resource development; outcome measurements and data analysis; and staff leadership and development. In addition to her current work at Penquis, she spent many years at other local non-profits, including: The Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Families And Children Together, and United Way of Eastern Maine.

Janelle currently holds a Professional Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA); is a United Way Worldwide Certified Meeting and Training Facilitator; and a Service Enterprise Initiative (Points of Light) Trainer. Janelle serves on the board of directors for Welcome to Housing and spent many years serving on the steering committee for the Blaine House Conference on Service and Volunteerism. She is also a proud graduate of BRLI’s class of 2018.

Janelle lives with her husband and amazing son in a home they share with their two cats. On weekends you can find her enjoying her family, exploring Maine, and shopping at the Bangor Farmer’s Market.
